Acting Head of BPS-Statistics Indonesia Yogyakarta, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, attended the Yogyakarta Economic Symposium (YES) 2026 on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at The Karaton Ballroom, Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta. The event, organized by Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta Representative Office (KPw BI DIY) in collaboration with the Indonesian Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) Yogyakarta, aimed to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy and accelerate quality economic growth in the region.
Carrying the theme “Accelerating Yogyakarta’s Economy to Grow, Become Inclusive, and Resilient toward a Prosperous Yogyakarta Community,” the forum brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives of Regional Government Organizations (OPDs), members of ISEI Yogyakarta, academics, practitioners, and business actors in Yogyakarta. The participation of various stakeholders reflected a shared commitment to formulating strategic measures to address global economic dynamics while optimizing the local potential of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
In his remarks, Secretary of ISEI Yogyakarta, Y. Sri Susilo, emphasized that the education sector is one of Yogyakarta’s key identities and competitive advantages. This strength serves as an important foundation for promoting regional economic growth.
“Going forward, Yogyakarta’s economic growth needs to be continuously driven by improving the quality of human resources, productivity, innovation, and regional competitiveness. This potential must be optimized through stronger research-based policy. Research findings must be translated into relevant and applicable policy recommendations for the government,” said Y. Sri Susilo.
YES 2026 featured two keynote speakers, namely Josua Pardede, Chief Economist of PermataBank, and Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti, Regional Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The discussion was held interactively and addressed a number of strategic issues related to strengthening regional economic resilience. The forum served as an open platform for exchanging ideas and perspectives, with the aim of generating recommendations that are implementable, innovative, and relevant to the economic development challenges facing Yogyakarta.
The event also underscored the importance of strengthening synergy among ISEI, Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta Representative Office, the Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the business sector, academia, and the community. Such synergy is essential to establish a strong link between research, policy formulation, and implementation in the field.
Ultimately, economic growth is not an end in itself. The primary objective is to improve the welfare of the people of Yogyakarta. Every research finding, idea, and policy emerging from this forum is expected to make a tangible contribution to realizing a Yogyakarta economy that is growing, inclusive, and resilient, toward a more prosperous society.
