Motivational Talk and Launch of Sekolah Kopi Nusantara (SKN) at Instiper Yogyakarta

Acting Head of BPS-Statistics Indonesia Yogyakarta, Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, attended the launch of Sekolah Kopi Nusantara (SKN) on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Grha Instiper, the Yogyakarta-based Institute of Agriculture Stiper (Instiper). The launch marked a new milestone in the development of Indonesia’s national agroindustry, particularly the coffee sector. SKN was officially inaugurated by Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, and witnessed by Head of BPS-Statistics Indonesia, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.

The launch was made even more special as it coincided with the welcoming ceremony for 1,135 new Instiper students for the 2026/2027 academic year. Amid the enthusiasm of the younger generation, the presence of the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas reaffirmed the government’s commitment that the plantation sector, particularly coffee, is no longer merely a conventional sector. Instead, it is projected to become one of the important foundations of Indonesia’s future economy. Sekolah Kopi Nusantara was initiated as a strategic innovation to address the challenges and opportunities facing the national coffee industry. SKN will serve as an integrated center for coffee education, training, research, and business development, covering the entire value chain from upstream to downstream.

BPS-Statistics Indonesia Yogyakarta expressed its full support for efforts to strengthen human resource capacity and provide data in the agricultural sector. Statistical data plays an important role in advancing Indonesian coffee to a higher level of competitiveness. With accurate and up-to-date data, farmer empowerment programs can be designed more effectively and targeted to those who need them most.

With the launch of SKN, Instiper Yogyakarta is expected to become a center of excellence for the development of Indonesian coffee. Collaboration among the central government, academia, business actors, and statistical institutions is key to creating a resilient, innovative, and sustainable coffee ecosystem. This cross-sectoral support is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in both domestic and global markets, while improving the welfare of coffee farmers across the country.
