Abstract

In May 2025, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province was 2.04%, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.27. Gunungkidul Regency recorded a y-on-y inflation rate of 2.17% and a CPI of 107.60, while the City of Yogyakarta experienced a y-on-y inflation rate of 1.88% and a CPI of 109.09.
The inflation was driven by price increases in several expenditure groups, including: food, beverages, and tobacco (up by 1.72%); clothing and footwear (up by 3.12%); housing, water, electricity, and household fuel (up by 1.37%); household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance (up by 1.74%); health (up by 1.90%); transportation (up by 0.63%); recreation, sports, and culture (up by 1.77%); education (up by 1.37%); food and beverage/restaurant services (up by 1.68%); and personal care and other services (up by 11.61%). The only group that experienced a decrease was the information, communication, and financial services group, which declined by 0.17%.
Additionally, the month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate for May 2025 was 0.15%, while the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate stood at 1.56%.
