Abstract

Food crop statistics have a strategic role in agriculture. It is used by government to determine the direction of development policies in Indonesia, primarily related to food fulfillment. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS collects data on paddy harvested areas every month through the Area Sampling Frame (ASF) survey, which is a collaborative activity between BPS with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and the National Institute of Aviation and Space (LAPAN) which is now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/BPN), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). Meanwhile, yield data, which is the multiplier of harvested area to produce paddy production data, is obtained through the crop-cutting Survey.Executive Summary of Paddy Harvested Area and Production in D.I. Yogyakarta 2023 (Final Figures) provides information on the paddy harvested area and production in January–December 2022 and 2023, and potential figures in January–April 2024. Hopefully, this report can provide an overview of paddy harvested area and production data by field conditions. We hope that the paddy statistics obtained through the ASF and crop-cutting survey can provide significant benefits to the nation, especially as a basis for policy-making, so that food security can be realized through rice self-sufficiency.
