Abstract

"Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) of D.I. Yogyakarta 2019" is a publicationannual report issued by the Regional Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis of Provincial BPSDIY and became the ninth publication. The purpose of publishing ITK publications ispresents an overview of consumers' household perceptions related to conditionstheir economy and general economic conditions during the quarter andforecast conditions for the next quarter. The benefit of this index is giving a signalinitial (early indicator) regarding economic conditions in the short term.ITK is presented in two indexes, i.e. ITK for the current quarter (Indicator Index Now abbreviatedIIK) and ITK forecasts for the coming quarter (Upcoming Indicator Index or IIM). SecondThis index is calculated based on data from the quarterly Consumer Tendency Survey (STK).The 2019 STK census block sample is a sub-sample of the Social Survey and activitiesNational Economy (Susenas) in March 2019 especially in urban areas. BlockSelected censuses are included in the middle and high strata wealth index. House sampleThe ladder is chosen systematically based on the stratification of the level of education of the headhouseholds from the results of updating Susenas. Criteria for selected households ishouseholds with household heads with high school education and above.IIK or ITK is now composed of three indicators, namely the current income index, the indexthe effect of price changes on consumption, and the volume index of food consumption anddrinks. The upcoming IIM or ITK is composed of two indicators, namely the income indexfuture and durable goods purchase plan index. IIK and IIM values ​​rangebetween 0 to 200. IIK and IIM values ​​between 0 to 100 mean pessimistic, that iseconomic conditions of household consumers during the current quarter or forecastthe next quarter is worse than the previous quarter. IIK valueand IIM equal to 100 means that the condition of the consumer economy is relatively the same ordid not change with the previous quarter. IIK and IIM values ​​are more than 100means optimistic, meaning that the economic conditions of household consumers during the quarterrunning or forecast one quarter ahead is better than the quarterprevious.The development of the value of ITK DIY both IIK and IIM during 2019 is always inoptimistic level or index value 100, except for IIM Quarter III. The highest IIK value occursduring the second quarter (April-June) was related to the momentum of Eid celebrationsFitri, school holidays, and the change of the new school year. The three forming indicatorsIIK has a positive influence (index 100) on the level of consumer optimism duringthe current quarter with a variable share. During quarter I-IV, IIM values ​​were calculatedin the previous quarter it was lower than the realized IIK value calculated atcurrent quarter. That is, the perception of DIY consumers related to economic conditions moreoptimistic compared to estimates / expectations.
