Abstract

On March 2, 2020 the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo announced a positive case of being infected with COVID-19 in Indonesia. From then on, various anticipatory steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19 began to be implemented, including physical-distancing calls, enforcing work from home, closing shopping centers and tourist attractions, and reducing worker density in the industrial sector. However, the spread of COVID-19 is still continuing and unstoppable. As a State Institution assigned to present statistics, BPS is also trying to take a role in responding to the current critical situation by producing additional statistics to support efforts to accelerate the handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia. With the application of physical distancing, data collection conventionally becomes constrained. This was addressed by using online data collection methods, and choosing an easier sampling method for both BPS and for respondents. The presentation of additional statistics is part of the Analysis of Recent Issues, which aims to provide information to stakeholders in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, to become a reference for planning and taking quick and strategic steps in dealing with this pandemic, be it for prevention (preventive), overcoming, and for recovery (recovery).
