Portrait of the 2020 Population Census of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Towards One Indonesian Population Data

The 2020 Population Census (SP2020) is the seventh population census since Indonesia's independence. SP2020 was held not only to fulfill the mandate of Law No. 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics, but also to organize a population census in accordance with the recommendations of the United Nations (UN).
In realizing One Population Data, SP2020 is carried out with several innovations that have never been carried out in previous censuses. To face the challenges of changing times that are very fast, the implementation of SP2020 will be carried out using a combined method, namely a method that utilizes population administration data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration. In addition, data collection uses 2 stages of data collection, namely online independent data collection (Online Population Census) and face-to-face data collection. Face-to-face population data collection in the Special Region of Yogyakarta was carried out using an interview system and a Drop Off Pick Up (DOPU) system. In order to realize the aspirations of an Advanced Indonesia, BPS implemented SP2020 with various challenges amid the 2019 Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic. SP2020 is implemented in compliance with health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19. With the permission of God Almighty accompanied by the cooperation of all parties, the SP2020 field data collection has been completed with various governance adjustments at each stage and sticking to the big goals of SP2020.
The journey of implementing and the results of the SP2020 in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is presented briefly in the 2020 Population Census Portrait booklet Towards One Indonesian Population Data. This booklet presents basic aggregate data on the population of the Special Region of Yogyakarta down to the district / city level. The basic data coverage of the SP2020 results is the population by sex, district / city, along with its derivative parameters such as population density, sex ratio, and population growth rate. The resulting data is expected to meet the current population data needs for planning, monitoring, evaluation of development programs as well as various research references.
